We got out to the conservation area at last today and after a lot of digging and clearing, we managed to prepare the ground an plant some seeds. We planted a row each of; radish, parsnip, carrot and beetroot.
The tomato plant experiment is beginning to show results. This afternoons measurements show that the leaves are making more difference. We are up to 25mm now. We also noticed that the plant with leaves is using much more water.
I will try to keep you updated but will be away from school for the next few weeks as I get my foot sorted out tomorrow.
Reminder that it is year 3 assembly tomorrow at 9:0. Hope it goes well.

We are looking at how we can help plants to grow well. Today we started an investigation to see if the leaves on a plant are important. We have 2 similar tomato plants, on one we cut off about half of the leaves. We will be measuring the growth over the next few weeks to see if one does better.
We know it will be a fair test as we are only changing one thing. All others are the same. They will get the same amount of water and are in the same place so will get the same amount of light and heat. Which do you think will grow best? Keep viewing as we add more pictures to find out.

Year 5 have been on an archaeological dig this afternoon. We are using our interpretation skills to find out what life was like in Ancient Greece. What do you think the pictures are showing?
What do you think the children have dug up?

The children are piecing together the artefacts they have dug up.
But hold on! What are the pictures on the artefacts?
