Year 5 DT

Children in year 5 are designing musical instruments and making them.
They first learnt about all about different pitch, tone, vibrations and decibels (how loud) musical instruments make.

20120712-093707.jpg
The children had to decide what materials they would need, what equipment they would need and how to use it carefully?

Video: Mrs Crowther running with Torch

Here is some video footage taken of Mrs Crowther running with the Olympic Torch. The crowd are quite noisy so I would turn down your speakers or the volume before playing as it becomes loud in places

Loatlands watch Mrs Crowther running with the Olympic Torch.

Most of the children are on their buses ready for the trip to Geddington. Some children have made banners.

The children have found there places at the side of the road really to cheer Mrs Crowther as she paces with the torch.

Ancient Greek and bullying assembly by year 5.

To finish of our topic about Ancient Greece, year 5 have planned an assembly.

The boys looked very red faced talking about being naked in ancient Greece!

Myths and legends was a favourite with the children, they made Top Trump cards in one lesson and played the game.

20120629-091659.jpg
The bullying topic touched the children’s hearts and so some of the children worked on a power point to encourage people of all ages not to bully!

Year 5 and the Tadpoles!

Last week one of the children in year5 brought in 4 tadpoles, this was all to do with life cycles we were thinking and learning about in science. Unfortunately by Wednesday 2 tadpoles died.
The 2 tadpoles that have survived have now grown legs.
Today, Friday 29th June we are going to release them into the pond in the conservation area before we find them jumping around the class room and frighten away the support staff!!!

Give it all you’ve got!

Every week we practise our singing of some our favourite school songs and occasionally learn new ones that we can perform. Today we had a practice of “Give it all you’ve got” which sums up how hard the children try and how proud they feel of their school. I hope you enjoy the performance…our first attempt (so it is not perfect) and apologises for my singing! Mr Izzard

Diamond Jubilee Street Party

On Friday we ended the half term with a street party to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. The children entertained with dancing and singing. They were rewarded by plenty of sandwiches, ice cream & jelly as well as cake. Thank you to all the parents who attended and PALS for providing all the food. What was your favourite part of the afternoon?
